Chery previews all-new Tiggo X flagship SUV at Beijing Auto Show
Chery joins the flagship SUV bandwagon with Tiggo X
It seems all of China’s major automakers are getting in on the trend of putting out a luxury flagship SUV. BYD has the Denza B8, GWM has the Tank 700, while Jetour has the G700, just to name a few.
Now Chery itself is getting in on the action too, as they just showed us the new Chery Tiggo X luxury 4WD SUV. And boy does it look impressive.

The vehicle at the show seems to be a pre-production model (not a prototype) that measures just over 5 meters long; that means it is a full-size SUV. The design appears to take some inspiration from Chery’s partner Range Rover, especially with the fascia, the proportions, and the stance on those 22” wheels.
Being a pre-production model, Chery did not allow us to open the doors and get a closer look, but already we can see that the interior features the usual hallmarks of a model flagship vehicle. The screen is large at 15.6”, and it will get the usual connectivity options that are for Chinese customers, such as users of Huawei and Apple. Google’s Android Auto is not available, though.

We can spot the white leather interior with a lot of extra pillows inside. Clearly, Chery is going for comfort and space, as it is pivoting their brand towards being more family-oriented. There are going to be two seating options: the version at the show seems to be the five-seater model, but the product expert at the display says there will also be a three-row six-seater version.
As for powertrains, the Chery Tiggo X will be available in three distinct options. The first is an internal combustion engine model. There will also be a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) variant that is essentially a self-charging hybrid.

There will also be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model. Chery hasn’t disclosed the exact details of those variants on the show floor, but we’ll keep an eye out for any other information on power, performance, and range estimates.

There is no word yet if the model will be launched in the Philippines, but given the strong reception to the smaller Chery Tiggo REV, we won’t be surprised if UAAGI makes a strong bid for the model for Philippine customers.
