Honda Accord celebrates 50th anniversary with global events, exhibit, and merch
To mark its 50th birthday, the Honda Accord is being celebrated with commemorative merchandise that feature a special logo
Marking five decades since the debut of the first-generation model in 1976, the Honda Accord is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
To commemorate the milestone, Honda is rolling out a series of activities, including a special exhibit, limited-edition merchandise, and digital content highlighting the nameplate’s evolution.

At the center of the celebration is a dedicated exhibit at the Honda Collection Hall in Tochigi Prefecture. The display features a comprehensive timeline of the Honda Accord, showcasing historic models with a panel that traces the sedan’s evolution through all eleven generations.
The exhibit will run until June 30, 2026, and forms part of a broader anniversary program staged at the Mobility Resort Motegi Complex.

Since its debut in 1976, the Honda Accord has evolved from a compact three-door hatchback into Honda’s core midsize family sedan. In the 1990s, it transitioned fully into the midsize segment, replacing its earlier body styles to meet changing market demands.

Over time, it expanded across Asia, Europe, and North America, earning major awards such as multiple Japan Car of the Year titles and North American Car of the Year for the tenth generation.
It also introduced key innovations, from the CVCC emissions system to modern driver assistance like Honda SENSING 360+, reinforcing its reputation as a forward-thinking global sedan.

In terms of motorsports, the Honda Accord has a surprisingly strong motorsport legacy despite being a family car, with major success in touring car racing during the 1990s and early 2000s.
It dominated series like the British Touring Car Championship and was highly competitive in the Japanese Touring Car Championship. It also competed in other international touring car series, reinforcing its reputation as a successful front-wheel-drive race platform.

To mark its 50th anniversary, the Honda Accord is being celebrated with commemorative merchandise like apparel, mugs, caps, and keyholders, all featuring a special logo.
Honda will also release an anniversary video and a feature article on “Honda Stories” on May 26 across its official digital and social media platforms, highlighting the model’s evolution and lasting legacy.

In its 50th year, Honda has delivered more than 25 million units across over 160 countries and regions worldwide. The Honda Accord continues to stand as one of the most recognizable and enduring nameplates in the global automotive industry, bridging heritage, innovation, and the brand’s long-term vision for mobility.
