Porsche ending production of first-gen ICE Macan by mid-2026, successor expected by 2028
After 12 years in production, the days are numbered for Porsche’s best-selling model.
During a first-quarter analyst and investor call, Porsche’s member of the executive board for Finance and IT, Jochen Breckner, confirmed production of the gas-powered Macan is ending in mid-2026.
However, Porsche recognizes the model still has significant demand in select markets. Breckner says while production is ending, the German automaker will build as many units as it can, and continue selling the model over the course of this year, or until supplies run out.

Breckner particularly mentioned the ICE Macan’s great demand in the US market as the reason for maximizing its production days, as Porsche sold over 27,000 units despite having a 12-year old platform.
Porsche is reportedly building a direct successor that still has an internal combustion engine, but it won't be out before 2028. In those gap years, there will definitely be a dent in Porsche sales.
That said, 54% of Macans sold globally were the second-gen EVs last year, and that was also reflected in the first quarter of 2026. There’s a chance Porsche could grow that number once the ICE Macan temporarily bows out, but that will vary depending on the market.
