SMC to begin toll road projects worth PHP 300B this year
Work on Southern Access Link Expressway and Northern Access Link Expressway starts Q4 2024
San Miguel Corporation (SMC), the company behind the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), the Skyway System, and the NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), announces plans to start PHP 300.69B expressway project this year.
By the fourth quarter of this year, SMC expects to break ground on two major highways – the PHP 148.30B Northern Access Link Expressway (NALEX) and the PHP 152B Southern Access Link Expressway (SALEX).

NALEX is a 136.4-kilometer expressway connecting Metro Manila via the Skyway Stage 3 (Balintawak) to the New Manila International Airport and other parts of Central Luzon. If demand for further expansion in this area arises, SMC has plans to construct another highway connecting Masantol, Pampanga to Tarlac City.

SALEX is a 40.65-kilometer elevated expressway network. It connects the Shoreline Expressway to the Skyway Stage extensions, including the C3-R10 Extension, Quirino Extension, and Buendia Extension.
Currently, SMC is two years away from finishing the PHP 26.1B TR4 project connecting Sto. Tomas, Batangas to Lucena City in Quezon province. Once completed, it will reduce travel time from 3 hours to 45 minutes.
Also in the pipeline is the 87.96-kilometer Cavite-Batangas Expressway and Nasugbu-Bauan Expressway, a joint endeavor between SMC and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
